Statement:
“For over 26years, every one of my sculptures was inspired directly from nature. My sculptures of abstract human figures are magnified replications of delicate twigs I have collected along my many walks throughout Park Lands. The use of twigs and sticks found in nature allows me to create sculptures that have a connection to the earth and the environment. The organic shapes and textures of the twigs add to the natural feel of the sculptures, making them seem like a part of the environment. This connection to nature is what makes these sculptures so unique and beautiful.I search specifically for fractals in nature that portray a human figure as it gives each sculpture of mine a unique duality. On the one hand they are magnified reproductions of fragile organic shapes, while at the same time they display these very expressive abstract human forms… I love that my sculptures allow people to view fragments of nature, as works of art.”
