Statement:
“A Hopeful Future” is a reproduction of an early colonial painting of the Adelaide Park Lands (1886) but with a monster added by me. I select the paintings based on the opportunity they present to change them. I then edit the photos, sometimes removing or altering the subject and reframing so we see more of the landscape, or less. Then I commission a reproduction – On top of this reproduction, I create an alternate reality – adding a new story to it – adding monsters and augmentations to these treasured landscapes.
