Support The Art Prize

Love Your Adelaide Park Lands

SPONSORSHIPS & DONATIONS

Your sponsorship support enables the Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize to happen, letting the power of art INSPIRE the community to Love Your Park Lands.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Adelaide City Council and the Adelaide Festival Centre for their unwavering support as major sponsors since the inaugural edition of the Art Prize. Over previous iterations and again in 2025, their generous contributions have been and will be pivotal to our success.

Nevertheless, for the Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize to complete preparations for 2025, achieve its funding goals, continue to support our artists and showcase the beauty and rarity of your Park Lands, we need to find more financial supporters.

Join us on a mission to raise $50,000 for the 2025 APA Art Prize!

The contributions from our financial supporters will be vital to the development and success of the 2025 Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize. In 2023, we received backing from approximately 20 sponsors, including individuals, small businesses, and educational institutions.

Our deadline to reach this goal is August 2024, before entries open.

Help us celebrate the artists and the beauty of your Adelaide Park Lands.

Title: Was Here
Dimensions (cm): 90h x 60w x 3d
Medium: Encaustic And Oil On Panel

Arborglyphs – the deliberate marking of trees is practiced across many cultures and traditions. People use these marks to commemorate important events and territory, as well as spontaneous emotions scratched onto trees. Often discounted as ‘just graffiti’, arborglyphs work to provide a context for memory, identity and values. They are akin to an archaeology of the tree, explicitly displaying layers of human interaction with nature, through seasons of growth and renewal. “Was here” is a statement not only about individuals and their actions, but also about the history, resilience and survival of trees. It speaks to the necessity of preserving trees and the natural environment in the face of development, expansion and human intervention in our Park Lands. Rather than “was here”, the tree, in fact, “is here”.
