It depicts an unknown figure utilising a fallen tree as a bridge to cross the dark waters of a wide South Australian creek.The monochromatic palette used in the drawing is reminiscent of 20th century vernacular photography. The stark tonal contrast highlights the figure’s determination and resilience as they traverses the obstacle before them. The fallen tree serves as a symbol to represent the inspiration and unexpected solutions that can be found in natural environments.

They are powerful, grand and fill me with awe. I am drawn to the patterns and rhythms of the bark. I see the layers of tree skin and think about the life lived, the expression of growth and ageing. The skin holds a story that draws me in.
